Coding Classes
Our flagship cohort-based coding program lies at the heart of what we do; we partner with local schools to provide a free, comprehensive coding curriculum for secondary aged girls.
Designed for secondary-aged girls who want to explore programming, our coding classes are a fun way to learn to code in a social, after-school setting. Participants are enrolled in two-year cohorts of 15-20 students who progress through classes/modules together, participate in enrichment workshops, receive specialized tutoring, and mentorship. Our girls learn programming concepts, computational thinking, and develop problem-solving skills and persistence; and are introduced to topics including problem solving, programming, physical computing, and user-centered design, data.

Program Highlights
Up to 4 hours of coding weekly
Cohort-based program of 15-20 girls per cohort
Classes meet afterschool twice a week for 1.5-2 hours or once a week for 3-4 hours (depending on location)
Comprehensive two-year curriculum made up of four progressive modules designed for our girls to gain proficiency in specific programming skills and add more complex projects to their portfolio over time
Focus teaching coding skills and introduce our girls to different programming languages appropriate for their age and experience level
Fun-filled, project-based coding which allow our girls to work on their critical thinking and problem solving skills while simultaneously picking up the computational and technical skills of coding
Promote comutational thinking, problem-solving and persistence through coding
Projects are self-paced, allowing students to progress through our curriculum at their own speed
Instruction delivered by trained staff members
